Abstract Index system for flood hazard and social-economic vulnerability are selected based on the theory of regional disaster system. Rapid assessment method is applied to conduct efficient flood risk zoning for county/city in China, as the basic unit. The entire China is zoned into five kinds of regions, in terms of different flood risk degrees, i.e. very high, high, medium, low and very low. Sensitivity analysis demonstrates the robustness of proposed approach. Comparisons between the zoning results produced by proposed approach and other methods are also carried out by similarity analysis.
