Abstract | To keep bacteria growing in a monolayer is important for studying the cellular dynamics of single cells in growing population. In this paper we report on a microfluidic system for long-term '2-Dimension' culture of bacteria, which allows the bacteria to grow freely in a micro-channel without forming multilayer structure. The culture environment is well controlled to be constant and it can be easily changed from one to another if necessary. This system offers a versatile platform for many research fields such as gene expression dynamics, nois-induced diversity between individuals and familial phylogenetics. |
