Abstract In 0.1 mol/L ClCH2COOH-ClCH2COONa buffer solution, at pH3.2, a sensitive catalytic wave of Ti (IV)- quercetin-NaClO3 is obtained by using single-sweep polarography. The detection limit of titanium is 7.0??10-9 mol/L. It was used to determine trace titanium in pure metallic magnesium. The composition of complex has been detected as Ti (IV): Qu = 1:1, and the rate constant of catalytic reaction k = 4.8??105(mol/L)-1??s-1 has been determined.
