Abstract This paper considers the hyper-bentness of a class of boolean functions of the form fa,b(r):= Tr1n (axr(2m-1)) +Tr14 (bx2n-1/5), where n = 2 m, m ?? 2 (mod 4), a ?? F2n, b ?? F16 and r ?? 0 (mod 5). With the help of Kloosterman sums and the factorization of x5 + x + a-1, we present a characterization of the hyper- bentness of fa,b(r). ? 2014 Binary Information Press.
