Abstract Four beam lines were constructed for the 6MV tandem accelerator at Peking University. Various ions such as 1H, 12C, 16O, 19F, 35Cl, 79Br, etc. were accelerated. Some experiments were made, such as deuterium determination for the first time by the D(12C, p)13C nuclear reaction, hydrogen profiling using the resonance reaction 1H(19F, ????)16O, backscattering analysis for high Tc superconductor YBa2Cu3O7-x, ERDA(elastic recoil detection analysis) induced by 35 MeV of 35Cl and 45 MeV of 79Br ions for analyzing the light elements in various materials and stopping power measurements of low energy heavy ions and other experiments.
