D-modules, finiteness theorems, and Poisson (co)homology

I will recall an old technique for proving that a vector space is finite-dimensional by showing it comes from a holonomic D-module. I will give recent applications to Poisson (co)homology, noncommutative algebra, and symplectic resolutions.
