Shimura varieties and their integral models play a crucial role in number theory and the Langlands program. In this talk, I will discuss the construction of toroidal and minimal compactifications for integral models of abelian-type Shimura varieties. Additionally, I will present some applications of this construction in studying the geometry and cohomology of Shimura varieties. This is based on my thesis and ongoing projects with Shengkai Mao.
